“Humans make such neat stuff with food!”
Wiverna is a self insert character for the Don't Starve franchise created by Klei Entertainment and is supposed be one of the playable characters in Don't Starve Together (DST). They were created on August 13th, 2021. They are (supposedly) a human, formerly a wyvern from the Scorched Steppe, transformed by a mysterious entity known only as It. They are the romantic partner of The Lodger, the protagonist of the indie horror game Knock Knock by Ice Pick Lodge. Their best friends are Weaver, **Waylon, Wiley** and Whisper.
“Humans take so long to grow their wings!”
Wiverna was a large draconic being in The Scorched Steppe. They spent their life sleeping in their cave, only really leaving for food. Then while hunting one day, they saw a human roaming the land. He was, of course, frightened by them and ran off, but his things fascinated Wiverna, who toyed with them until accidentally starting his music box and becoming entranced. They wanted to hear more! In their search for “more,” they were lured to a being with great and strange magic. They were convinced by It to give up their natural form for a time, for a chance to experience the music and other things that humans can. But it was secretly a trick for the being to steal their power for Itself. The theft didn’t go as planned however, and left Wiverna in a partially human body, with a broken music box and no idea what to do from there. Assuming the magic worked fully however, and now unable to return to their lair, they decided to wander and find more of what fascinated them, and a way to regain their true form - but, maybe not abandon this new one entirely. It’s so very interesting, after all!
Wiverna’s special ability is related to their original form as a wyvern, as draconic traits poke through their human form. As such, they are immune to overheating and fire in general, making them an excellent choice during summer or for handling problems with fires.
